Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday praised US Vice President JD Vance on the Republicans’ return to power in the US as the leaders met in Paris ahead of the AI Summit. “Congratulations! A great, great victory,” PM Modi told Vance as they shook hands, alongside French President Emmanuel Macron.
PM Modi arrived in France on Monday on a three-day visit during which he will co-chair an AI Action Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron and hold bilateral talks with him. He was welcomed with a hug by Macron at a welcome dinner ahead of the Summit.
At the dinner, PM Modi met Vance, who is also in France to attend the AI Summit, for the first time after Donald Trump returned to power in the United States.
Macron shared a video of the three leaders meeting at the dinner and wrote, “Welcome to Paris, my friend Narendra Modi! Nice to meet you, dear VP Vance! Welcome to all our partners for the AI Action Summit. Let’s get to work!”
