Bamber Thakur, ex-Congress MLA from Bilaspur, shot at by unidentified people; security officer also injured | Video





In a shocking news, former Congress MLA Bamber Thakur was shot at by unidentified people at his residence in Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur district, on Friday.

His security officer was also injured in the incident.

Thakur was shot in the leg and he was referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla.

The incident took place when the former MLA was sitting in the courtyard of the government accommodation allotted to his wife in Bilapsur along with others.

In a video that has gone viral on social media platforms, some unknown people can be seen entering the premises of the house and opening fire.

The accused reportedly fired around 12 rounds of bullets.

Deputy Commissioner Abid Hussain Sadiq also rushed to the district hospital.

The PSO, who also suffered injury, has been referred to AIIMS Bilaspur. The condition of the PSO is said to be critical, reported Amar Ujala.

A manhunt has been launched to catch the culprits who reportedly ran on foot towards the main market, reported PTI quoting SP Sandeep Dhawal.

He added that the accused would be nabbed and booked under relevant sections of law.

Taking note of the incident, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said,”I have spoken to Bamber Thakur and urged him to go to AIIMS but he wished to be treated in IGMC Shimla and the deputy Commissioner has been instructed to do the needful”.

Directions have been issued to erect barricades on roads and four lane to nab the people who are behind the shooting incident”, Sukhu said in a video statement.

Meanwhile, reacting to the incident, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Archna Thakur flayed Himachal government and said, “Law and order situation has deteriorated in Congress ruled Himachal Pradesh. Incidents of firing are being seen in broad daylight and that too on an Ex MLA Bilaspur.”
