Bill Gates has mixed views about Elon Musk, his DOGE and its role in the administration and Musk’s opinions about many things at the same time and also the recent announcement that Musk made about shutting down the United States Agency for International Development. Bill Gates made several media appearances as part of the promotion for his new book Source Code and spoke at great length about what he thinks about Elon Musk.
Bill Gates thinks Elon Musk is super smart but his endorsement of far-right AfD in Germany is ‘insane s**t’. His DOGE, according to Gates, is not problematic but what he thought of USAID is.
‘If USAID is shut down, it could result in literally millions of deaths’
Appearing on ‘The View’, Bill Gates said he was worried that scaling back the USAID could result in literally millions of deaths. “Well, Elon, his private sector work, you know, has been very innovative, really fantastic. A lot of private sector people, when they get into government they don’t take the time necessarily to see what the good work is or why it’s structured the way it is, so I’m a little worried, particularly with this USAID stuff,” Gates said.
“My foundation partners with USAID on nutrition and getting vaccines out and, you know, there’s incredible people. You know, they’re not actually worms that work there. So, you know, hopefully we’ll get some of that work back in shape. In fact, if we don’t, you know, you could have literally millions of deaths,” Gates added.
Appearing in a CNN interview, Bill Gates reiterated that he was a “little disappointed” by Musk’s efforts to shut down the agency. But he said he looks forward to working with Elon Musk.
“The basic idea that we should review almost every department and if you are really smart about using technology, you are updating the goals, you are saving 10 per cent here, 10 per cent there,” Bill gates said this makes sense but “going in very quickly and saying that all these people run a criminal organization, that’s not as subtle as you’d like to see”.
