US President Donald Trump has blamed his predecessor, Joe Biden, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for not stopping the war between Russia and Ukraine.
In response to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy invite to visit the war-afflicted zone, on Monday, Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, “The War between Russia and Ukraine is Biden’s war, not mine. I just got here, and for four years during my term, had no problem in preventing it from happening. President Putin, and everyone else, respected your President!”
“I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS WAR, BUT AM WORKING DILIGENTLY TO GET THE DEATH AND DESTRUCTION TO STOP. If the 2020 Presidential Election was not RIGGED, and it was, in so many ways, that horrible War would never have happened. President Zelenskyy and Crooked Joe Biden did an absolutely horrible job in allowing this travesty to begin. There were so many ways of preventing it from ever starting. But that is the past. Now we have to get it to STOP, AND FAST. SO SAD!” he added.
Trump is attempting to negotiate a peace agreement in order to bring the war to an end. As per reports, Trump’s strategy involves Ukraine giving up its request to join NATO. Moreover, the US troops would not be deployed as part of any peacekeeping mission.
Trump’s representative, Steve Witkoff, is believed to be having close communication with the Russian counterpart. US envoy Steve Witkoff met Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg for talks aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the war in Ukraine. The meeting took place at the city’s presidential library on Friday.
DEADLY RUSSIAN ATTACK IN SUMY
A lethal Russian missile attack struck the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy on Sunday. The attack killed at least 35 people, making it amongst the most deadly attacks in the conflict, according to Ukraine.
Russia said the attack targeted a meeting of Ukrainian army commanders. Russia reported that 60 Ukrainian troops were killed. However, numerous civilians were also casualties and injured, as per the Ukrainian authorities.
Ukraine has accused Russia of using missiles and drones to hit civilian places like schools, hospitals, apartment buildings, and train stations. After the attack on Sumy, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, “Only completely deranged scum can do something like this.”
Russia’s defense ministry said Ukraine was to blame for placing military operations in cities and using civilians as human shields. “The Kyiv regime continues to use the Ukrainian population as a human shield,” the ministry said in a statement.
