- With One UI 7 finally rolling out widely, many Galaxy S24 Ultra owners are voicing their displeasure with the status bar in the new update.
- There is more blank space in the top corners, which works well for phones with rounded corners but not for phones with sharper corners, like the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
- This change also limits the number of icons the status bar can display, much to everyone’s displeasure.
Update, April 30, 2025 (04:44 AM ET): This article initially mentioned that the extra space in the status bar was also present on the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s One UI 7 update. However, it seems Samsung is not applying the changes uniformly across recent Galaxy S Ultra devices.
Reddit user qlstar points out that the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s One UI 7 update only marginally increased the empty space at the left and right edges of the status bar, but the change is small enough for most people to ignore. In contrast, the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s One UI 7 update brought too much blank space in the status bar, and you can see why users would be annoyed.
