CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam Saturday hit out at Kerala governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar for criticising the SC ruling fixing a time-frame for clearing bills.
“It is expected that he (Arlekar) will view matters through the lens of a governor rather than that of a BJP neta. The governor should aim to strengthen healthy Centre-state relations, rather than considering the position as having authority over the state legislature and SC,” he said.
In an interview, the governor had criticised the SC verdict saying if constitutional amendments had to be brought in by courts, then what was the need for Parliament and state legislatures.
He said the tussle between TN govt and governor R N Ravi over pending bills should have been referred to the Constitution bench. Terming the SC judgment as an overreach, Arlekar said the matter before SC in the case of Kerala was not the same as that of TN. tnn
