NEW DELHI: Activity in the country’s manufacturing sector rose to a six-month high in Jan on the back of a sharpest upturn in exports in 14 years, increase in new orders that led to a rise in employment in the sector, a survey showed on Monday. Rising from Dec’s one-year low of 56.4 to 57.7 in Jan, the HSBC India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) signalled a robust improvement. Goods producers welcomed another substantial increase in new orders, which they attributed to better domestic demand and a pick-up in overseas sales.
