Missing Indian student Sudiksha Konanki’s clothes found on beach chair: Report

In a fresh development in the case of missing Indian-origin student Sudiksha Konanki, a piece of clothing believed to be hers was found on a lounge chair at the Dominican Republic beach, where she vanished over a week ago, a New York Post report said.

A white netted sarong kept on the chair and a pair of flip-flops covered in sand placed next to it were seen in recently released images, obtained by CDN.

Investigators suspect Konanki may have placed her clothes on the lounge chair before entering the ocean, where she is presumed to have drowned.

However, authorities stated that the clothing showed no evidence of tampering.

Konanki was last seen on the morning of March 6 at around 5:50 am with Josh Riibe at an upscale resort in Punta Cana. She was captured on the surveillance cameras with Riibe walking arm-in-arm around 4:15 a.m on the same night.

A student of the University of Pittsburgh, she had been on spring break since March 3, when she arrived in the Caribbean. Riibe, who was with her at the time, is not considered a suspect by the investigators, but rather a “person of interest” in the case.

Authorities have speculated that Konanki may have drowned after entering the ocean but haven’t ruled out the possibility of foul play. However, her family has raised concerns about the possibility of kidnapping and urged authorities to intensify search efforts, as her father suspects that she may have been abducted.
