Nagpur Violence LIVE: Tension escalated in central Nagpur on Monday as stones were thrown at police officers amidst unfounded rumours that Quran had been desecrated during a protest by a right-wing group demanding the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb. The Monday evening incident, which was reported from Mahal area of Nagpur, resulted in injuries to four individuals, according to official reports.

In an effort to quell the unrest, police deployed tear gas shells and conducted a baton charge in the Chitnis Park and Mahal areas. The violence reportedly spread to Kotwali and Ganeshpeth in the late afternoon, officials stated.

Officials said the Chitnish Park to Shukrawari Talao road belt was most affected by violence as per the preliminary information, where some four-wheelers were set afire by rioters. Stones were also thrown at the homes of residents.
