Nikola Jokic’s priceless reaction to Wembanyama’s pre-game reading routine

Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic had some fun at the expense of San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama ahead of his first All-Star Game. The lighthearted moment took place in the locker room at Oracle Arena on Sunday, where Jokic was caught on camera playfully mocking Wembanyama’s pre-game reading habit.

In a video shared by the NBA’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, Jokic couldn’t hide his amusement when he noticed the 21-year-old French star with a book in hand. With a playful smirk, Jokic asked, “You really brought a book?” Wembanyama, unfazed, replied, “Yeah, I read before every game.” Jokic, still chuckling, facepalmed in disbelief, making the moment go viral among NBA fans.

Despite the teasing, Wembanyama remained composed and tried to explain his book choice. However, Jokic’s laughter made it clear that he found the whole situation hilarious. Fans online loved the interaction, with many joking that Jokic was “casually roasting & bullying everyone” during All-Star weekend.

Jokic reacts to Luka Doncic’s shocking trade

Jokic also shared his thoughts on the major trade that sent Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers. Calling Doncic a “generational talent,” Jokic admitted that the move was surprising.

“I think both teams win,” Jokic said. “Luka is someone who affects the game on so many levels. He was building something in Dallas, so I think he was hurt by the trade.”

Jokic eyes another championship run

Following the All-Star Game, Jokic made it clear that his focus is set on the rest of the season, with one goal in mind—winning another NBA championship.

“To win a championship,” Jokic said. “Everybody here is trying and wanting to [win a championship].”

Jokic led the Nuggets to an NBA title in the 2022-23 season, securing Finals MVP after defeating the Miami Heat in five games. This season, the 29-year-old is once again delivering MVP-caliber numbers, averaging 29.8 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 10.2 assists per game with impressive 57.7/45.0/82.3 shooting splits.

The Nuggets currently hold a 36-19 record, sitting third in the Western Conference at the All-Star Break. As they gear up for the postseason, no team will want to face a Jokic-led Nuggets squad, as they remain one of the biggest threats in the West.

With Jokic eyeing another title and potentially a fourth MVP in five years, the second half of the season promises to be an exciting one for Denver.
