PAK vs NZ: Pakistan crash to lowest-ever T20I total, suffer nine-wicket drubbing in Christchurch

Pakistan have suffered yet another setback following the league stage dismissal in the recently concluded Champions Trophy 2025. The Men in Green have been bowled out for their lowest total in 20 over cricket during the 1st T20I match against New Zealand on Sunday.

Salman Ali Agha led Pakistan managed to score just 91 runs in the 18.4 overs during the 1st innings as they were bowled out by the Kiwis at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Jacob Duffy was the chief architect of Pakistan’s destruction taking 4 wickets for 14 runs while Kyle Jamieson took 3 wickets for 8 runs.

In reply, the Kiwis chased down the total with relative ease as they lost just one wicket of Tim Seifert (44). Tim Robinson (18 off 15 balls) and Finn Allen (29 off 17 balls) played their part in the run chase as New Zealand registered a nine-wicket victory in just above 10 overs.

Pakistan’s lowest T20I score:

Notably, the clash on Sunday not only marks Pakistan’s lowest score in T20 cricket but also the first time they have been bowled out for a score under 100 against the Kiwis in 20 over cricket. Incidentally, Pakistan’s last lowest total of 101 was also against the Kiwis – 101 at the Wespac Stadium in Wellington (2016).

What did Salman Agha say after the match?

Speaking to the broadcasters after Paksitan’s 9 wicket defeat, Agha said, “It was obviously difficult and we weren’t up to the mark… They bowled really well. They were bowling in the right areas and there was swing and seam for them as well.

“But out batting wasn’t up to the mark. We have won day before the next game and we will try to gather ourselves and be better in the next game.” Agha added.
