KOLKATA: The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) revised prices for 80 medicines from April 1, with major cuts in diabetes drugs, reports Rohit Khanna. Empagliflozin combo prices dropped sharply, with one variant reduced from Rs 437 to Rs 100 per strip. A Sitagliptin-Dapagliflozin-Metformin combo fell from Rs 210 to Rs 133 as these drugs went off patent, prompting generic production.
Meanwhile, some cardiac and hypertension drugs saw price hikes, including Atorvastatin-Clopidogrel (Rs 266.5 to Rs 293) and Telmisartan-Bisoprolol (Rs 125 to Rs 137.5). Prices announced exclude GST, and new stock may take 60-75 days.
