A former Indiana teacher, Brittany Fortinberry, has been charged with several counts of sexually abusing young boys. The 31-year-old reportedly threatened to take her own life if the victims told anyone about the abuse.
Five additional victims have now come forward exposing horrific claims that she forced minors into sexual activity.
According to New York Post, Fortinberry, a retired mathematics teacher at two schools in Martin County, reportedly met her students, including some who were just 13 years old, during the 2024 school year.
Court reports show that one of the victims was drugged several times before he was sexually assaulted by Fortinberry when he was just 13 years old.
Charges against Brittany Fortinberry
The victim says she asked him to invite friends to her home, where she had given them drugs and sexually assaulted them. Fortinberry is accused of contacting one of the victims even after she was arrested on other charges last month, in an effort to corrupt him.
She is also accused of employing gifts as a means to manipulate her victims. She supposedly spent $600 purchasing things for the boys before raping them, even forcing them to wear masks from the Scream movie during these acts.
The victims told her that if they reported the abuse, she would kill herself. One of the victims stated that Fortinberry would put her own kids to bed before she tried to rape him.
New York Post reported that some of the victims disclosed that Fortinberry paid them money for nude photos of themselves. The victims said the payments were between $100 and $800.
She also sent nude photos and explicit videos to the victims on Snapchat and another app known as Session, according to reports. When some of the boys did not want to participate, she reportedly forced them.
Was her husband aware?
One of the victims’ parents informed police that Fortinberry’s husband knew about the abuse and threatened to hurt one of the victims if they reported it.
Fortinberry had previously been charged in February with sexual misconduct against multiple students. She had explained that the abuse was due to the extreme weight loss she experienced. The victim had also said that there were at least five other victims, possibly ten.
As a reaction to these new charges, prosecutors charged Fortinberry with additional offences, including 10 counts of child molestation, 8 counts of distributing obscene material to minors, and 5 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
