Woman forced to take off hijab in UP, assaulted

AGRA: A 20-year-old woman was forced out of her hijab & her male colleague (32) from another faith assaulted by a group of men while returning home on a bike after work in UP’s Muzaffarnagar. Six persons have been arrested so far, reports Sudeep Lavania.
DSP Raju Kumar said the incident took place at 4pm Saturday. “The duo, associated with a finance bank, was attacked in Darzi Wali Gali area. We’ve got video evidence. More arrests will follow.”
A purported clip of the incident, widely shared online Sunday, shows a man forcibly removing the woman’s hijab while others abuse and push her. Her colleague was also beaten after the mob stopped them, asked their names, and attacked them. In her complaint, the woman said 8-10 men assaulted them while returning from EMI collection. “They filmed it and threatened to circulate it,” she said.
An FIR has been lodged under relevant BNS sections.
